The Altias Basebar is the structural foundation of the Altias pursuit cockpit, designed to deliver a narrow frontal area, stiffness and control required for high-performance 1km time trial and individual pursuit racing.

Designed specifically around the Altias framesets, the one-piece carbon basebar integrates seamlessly with the Altias ecosystem and Velobike Extension Assembly, while providing a universal mounting platform for 3rd party extensions.

Basebar Geometry

Narrow basebars reduce the frontal area of the cockpit and can help manage airflow around the rider. The Altias Basebar positions the grips in-line with the rider's knees, allowing the hands and forearms to break the airflow before it reaches the legs.

The width has been developed around current UCI minimum width requirements, creating a compact aerodynamic profile without compromising control.

Long grip sections provide a secure hand position for high-force standing starts, giving the rider the leverage and confidence required when accelerating out of the start gate.

Stiffness

1km time trials place significantly higher loads through the basebar than a conventional pursuits, particularly during the opening acceleration.

The Altias Basebar has been engineered around the same specifications as our range of high performance sprint drop bars - making them one of the only pursuit basebars in the industry designed to consider elite sprint load cases

Cockpit Integration

The basebar is designed for universal fitment to 3rd party extension systems. 

The Basebar also forms part of the modular Altias pursuit cockpit and is designed to work with the Aerobar Extensions, Aerobar Riser Set, Adjustable Angle Risers and Carbon Arm Rests.

Together, these components allow extension height, angle, reach, arm-rest position and hand position to be tuned independently, making it possible to refine the rider's position without replacing the complete cockpit.
