Works as needed to put my track bike on my indoor wheel-off smart trainer.
My wife got me the drop adapters for Father’s Day and after setting up my spare track bike with them on my saris H3 I can say I am thoroughly impressed with the high quality of the product and how easy it was to set up.
Many direct-drive rollers use a magnetic loading system, and strong-legged track cyclists may have experienced a momentary loss of load when applying high torque during indoor training.
Direct-drive rollers that are not magnetically loaded include the LeMond Revolution, Elite Turno, and Revbox MK6.1. However, even Velobike only offers a dedicated fixed gear adapter for the LeMond Revolution among these rollers.
(And since the LeMond Revolution is discontinued and still a favorite of professional track cyclists, it is rare to find one on the used market...)
I bought a Turbo Trainer Single-Speed Adapter for my Elite Turno.
This is a special single-speed gear (12T, 16T) mounted on the hub body of many direct-drive rollers, and a Dropout Adapter is attached to the rear end of the bike, which allows you to connect a fixed-gear bike to a free hub. The distance from the center of the BB to the gears is longer than when using a normal wheel, so it is a little annoying to have to prepare a new chain.
I am sorry to have to say this, but thanks to the Turbo Trainer Single-Speed Adapter, I can practice high-torque indoor training without any hesitation. I wish you all a good track cycling life with Velobike!
I have a fixie that I got from a friend, and really wanted to use it as my trainer bike with my Zwift Hub. I have the Zwift Cog single gear on the trainer with this application.
These are a very high quality adapter that will hold a big fella like me with ease (230lbs). They make it to where you can mount the bike on your trainer. What else do you need?
I will note that since the Zwift Cog has a goofy little plastic spacer on it, you have to get your own metal hub spacers to put on there so that the screw doesn't hit that piece and it reduces the overall size. I'm sure this is not an issue with most trainer setups, the Zwift cog is just a super goofy little piece with that extra plastic.
Very easy fix with some quick collaboration with my local bike shop! I also had to slightly lengthen the chain, but that's also easy and was expected.
Thanks Velobike!
